Solution for Common Marble Problems

Marble is one of the most beautiful natural stones available. However, it is also more sensitive, porous and softer than other stones like granite. Marble floor can show wear much sooner than granite. However, marble floor cleaning experts can hone and polish them to give them a new lease of life.

Here’s a look at some of the most common problems with marble, and how we can help you restore your floor.

Chipping

The edges of marble tiles may chip when the tiles are uneven. This is known as lippage. Any lippage less than 1mm can be treated by honing the tile flat. Usually, this process will get rid of small chips. Our marble floor cleaning team will use epoxy fillers to fix holes and larger chips.

If the lippage is bigger than 1mm, our experts will grind the floor to smoothen the surface. Scratch marks from the grinding process are removed by honing the surface. If any chips remain, we will fill them up with epoxy fillers.

• Dirt, grime, stains and scuffs are removed from the surface of your slate flooring

• Professional sealing and finishing to protect against future stains and spills

Grout

Dirty grout is another common problem with marble floors. Dirty grout is the result when homeowners don’t use the right cleaning methods.

Using a wet mop is not the solution. It simply moves the soil from the surface to the grout. Over time, this dirt builds up and becomes hard to remove. At Just Clean Stone & Tile Care, we make use of special chemicals to remove the dirt and then seal the grout.

Another way we clean up the grout is by grinding the marble. This will smoothen the floor and make cleaning easy. But, this is a more expensive option.

Stains and Spots

When you install marble in toilet, bathroom, dining room or the kitchen, stains and spots are unavoidable. Most food spills will cause a chemical reaction and stain the floor. We will inspect the surface to understand whether a stain has etched the marble. Items like wine, vinegar, fruit juice, lime, tomato juice, soda and milk can etch your marble floor. Then there are other stains caused by oil, ink, water, metal, smoke and efflorescence.

We will first work on removing the stains by using special products. If that doesn’t do it, other options include grinding the surface and re-polishing it.
